Paul Ananth Tambyah was born in Singapore, did his medical education at the National University of Singapore and postgraduate training at the Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago and the University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison, WI. He is currently head of the division of Infectious Diseases and Assoc Professor of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is also past Asst Dean of the School of Medicine and Past President of the Society of Infectious Diseases Singapore. He is currently Vice President of the Chapter of ID Physicians, College of Physicians, Singapore. He is also a visiting consultant to the Singapore Armed Forces and a member of the Board of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology in America. He has won numerous teaching awards and has published extensively on nosocomial infections and emerging infectious diseases.
